Is Microsoft trying to kill off Mentimeter?

Sometimes presentations can be a very one directional affair, but there are tools that you can use to cleverly engage the audience, large or small, to be a part of your pitch. One such tool which I have used on various occasions is the PowerPoint Add-In from a company called Mentimeter (Interactive presentation software — Mentimeter).

One of the live polls Mentimeter can help you build

Mentimeter, positions itself as a presentation company, they have their own presentation creation tools, but to be honest, they are pretty rudimentary, perhaps I am a different generation, where I prefer tools like Microsoft PowerPoint for that full control, although when challenging my 12 year old daughter she will always extol the simplicity of Google Slides, which I am also not a massive fan of. The presentation suite aside, I have always been a fan of what Mentimeter did with live polls and word clouds to be able to solicit a live opinion from the audience, and overtime they had the ability to do word clouds, multiple choice questions and many more.

Options for interactive engagement with an audience

The concept was simple, pop open your browser, have people go to a certain website address, and enter a code, and you could answer the questions set up by the presenter.
